Igniting the Spark

Anyone else feel like life is on fast-forward lately? Between the news cycle, the never-ending to-do list, and just... everything, it's a wonder any of us have time to catch our breath. But every so often, something lands in your feed that makes you stop scrolling and start thinking—and for me, that moment came courtesy of a certain politician.

His take? That postmenopausal women are basically here to babysit grandkids, and that many women secretly hate their lives. I'll admit, my first reaction wasn't polite. My second reaction was better: I decided to prove him spectacularly wrong. Over this past year, I've made it my happy little mission to celebrate the smart, funny, resilient women in my life—women of every background and belief—and to share my guide to finding joy in what I lovingly call "senior moments." Because here's the truth: mature women are the glue holding families together, and it is absolutely time we celebrated every stage of this ride.

What will spark you?
What will spark you?

Life has a funny way of reminding us that time is precious—usually right when we least expect it. When the days start feeling a little shorter (in more ways than one), joy stops being a "nice to have" and becomes downright essential. And sparking joy doesn't mean pretending everything's perfect or ignoring the hard stuff—it just means getting a little stubborn about finding the light, even when things feel shadowy.

I believe we "mature women" know this better than anyone. Retirement, health changes, losing the people we love—these seasons ask a lot of us. But they also crack open the door to something wonderful: the chance to redefine what purpose and happiness look like on our own terms. Celebrating our "senior moments" isn't about looking backward with nostalgia—it's about honoring where we've been while stepping into what's next with a whole lot of hope (and maybe a glass of wine).

This is just the beginning of my journey to celebrate mature women—so consider this the first spark, not the whole bonfire. I've got more stories brewing about the joys (and let's be honest, the challenges) of aging, caregiving, and figuring out what purpose looks like at this stage of life. Because the more we share these stories, the more we chip away at tired old stereotypes and shine a light on just how strong and beautiful this chapter really is.

If we keep showing up with joy, connection, and respect, we can rewrite the whole narrative around aging—one story at a time. Here's to honoring the incredible women who hold our families and communities together, and to celebrating every single spark along the way.
